‘Since 2020, I’ve been deeply engaged in sustainable development worldwide, working on initiatives within my university in Leeuwarden, Netherlands and beyond. The highlight was attending one of the biggest United Nations conferences, named Stockholm 50+ in Sweden, where I was truly inspired by an African activist’s words: ‘Change starts at home.’ That powerful moment ignited my passion to dedicate myself to improving every aspect of sustainability in my own country.
Seeking knowledge and expertise, I immersed myself in the study of International Relations and Global Social Development in Bangkok, exploring sustainable initiatives in Thailand. Afterwards, I’ve returned home to Suriname, ready to transform words into actions and make a tangible difference in my country.
With this burning desire, I took the leap and founded Up To You Foundation, driven by the vision of creating a sustainable future for Suriname.’
Our vision is for Suriname to become a leader in sustainable practices, where individuals and communities embrace environmentally friendly behavior. We strive for a future in which Suriname inspires other countries and demonstrates that change is possible through education, engagement, and collective action. Through our efforts, we hope to inspire a culture of sustainability that promotes a healthier and more resilient future for all.
Up To You Foundation is committed to creating positive change in Suriname by promoting sustainable practices and encouraging behavioral change. Through workshops, interactive sessions, school and community projects, we aim to raise awareness and educate people about waste management, pollution reduction, and all other aspects related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our mission is to empower individuals in Suriname to take action and make meaningful contributions towards a more sustainable future for Suriname and beyond. We will achieve this by driving actual behavioral change.
Valuable collaborations are crucial for Up To You Foundation. Support in all forms—financial, manpower, promotion—would have a significant impact on their work, allowing them to realize their mission on a larger scale and create more positive change in Suriname.
