Clean Up Days

Our Cleanup Days project has become a powerful force for environmental change and community unity in Paramaribo. Over the course of 12 cleanup days across 12 different locations, we’ve mobilized more than 100 dedicated volunteers, collected nearly 1,000 bags of trash, and transformed public spaces in collaboration with local businesses and other organizations. This includes our enthusiastic participation in two World Cleanup Days, allowing us to align local efforts with a global movement toward environmental sustainability.

Each cleanup day was organized by our own committed volunteers from Up To You Foundation, who worked tirelessly alongside supportive local partners. We’ve teamed up with businesses, community groups, and organizations throughout the city, each bringing unique resources and knowledge to amplify the impact of our efforts. This collaborative spirit allowed us to tackle littering and pollution issues in diverse locations, from parks and waterfronts to neighborhood centers, addressing the specific environmental needs of each area.

The Cleanup Days have been more than just about waste collection; they’re about creating a cleaner, healthier Paramaribo. By involving local businesses and organizations, we have fostered a sense of shared responsibility for the environment that extends beyond the events themselves. Our partnerships also show the power of collective action, where community members and organizations come together to make a visible, lasting impact.

By participating in international initiatives like World Cleanup Day, we have emphasized the role Paramaribo can play in the global fight against waste. Our Cleanup Days have proven to be a model of community-driven sustainability, setting a foundation for continued environmental stewardship in our city. We are proud of what we’ve accomplished together and look forward to growing our network, encouraging responsible waste management, and inspiring Paramaribo to embrace lasting, sustainable practices.
